Some of you may have already heard of the search for Austin Stephanos and Perry Cohen. On July 24th, they went out in a 19 ft boat and never returned after a storm quickly came up in Jupiter, FL. Since then, an extremely large number of people have been relentlessly praying and donating money to aid in their search.
Because I grew up going to the Outer Banks, I was always fishing and have felt closer to God when I’m just sitting on the sand staring at the ocean. These boys are described as having “salt in their veins” and are avid fishermen. Their story hit really close to home for me and I have been thinking about them non-stop since I first heard of their disappearance. I haven’t been able to get them nor their parents off my mind. I can’t imagine the heartache and devastation they are going through.
I have been following their Facebook Page (Find Austin and Perry) and reading the extensive number of people commenting saying how much they have been praying and hoping for their safe return. Comments such as those are encouraging and inspiring for the family and friends of Austin and Perry. However, I have also been reading multiple comments from people saying horrible and negative things regarding the boy’s conditions. People are saying that there is no way we will ever find them and how could they be alive still. Well, I have news for them…
Why would we doubt God? How can the one who SPOKE the Earth into existence be limited? The one who gives us LIFE be told what he can and cannot do? Who are we to say that God cannot do something? Why do we think Jesus, who came to Earth and performed miracles, wouldn’t do so now?
Miracles happen every day and hope is what sets us apart as humans. We have absolutely nothing without faith. I pray that if anything, Austin and Perry’s parents will be able to see how their sons have brought together thousands of people for this cause. Countless prayers have been said in a matter of a week; that in itself is a miracle. When we doubt and limit God we are placing power in the devil’s hands.
Please remember that it is NOT our will but the will of God to be done. God knows everything before we do and we should take comfort in knowing that he is in control.
He says,
